An Inheritance

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“and we have a priceless inheritance – an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.” 1 Peter 1v4 (NLT)

I tried to think of what this inheritance could be. I know for instance that the Lord Jesus is in heaven preparing a place for us as we see in John 14v2-3 (KJV). But what else could this inheritance be? Certain characteristics of this inheritance we do know. For one, it is being reserved for you. It is pure. It has not been corrupted, or defiled, or perishable, and it is a great inheritance. While we have an inheritance in heaven reserved for us, how we invest on earth is also important. We know of the rich fool who thought he had made it in life, and decided to build bigger barns for himself, and take it easy. “But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God (Luke 12v20-21, KJV). Have you been amassing wealth for yourself, and giving no heed to things of God? Haggai 1 paints another scenario of what happened when God’s house had been neglected.

Supplementary Text
“Why are you living in luxurious houses while My house lies in ruins? This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes! “This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild My house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the LORD.” Haggai 1v4-7 (NLT)

Father, I thank You for the lively inheritance we have reserved in heaven. Father, while here on earth, help me to invest my time, energy, and finances in things that are of eternal value in Jesus name, amen.
