Obedience to God (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“[Live] as children of obedience [to God]; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires [that governed you] in your former ignorance [when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel].” 1 Peter 1v14 (AMP)

There was a time when we were ignorant, we did not know what the Gospel preached, what pleased God. In fact, we could not even please God if we wanted to. There was a time when we were ignorant, and were governed and ruled by our flesh. But not anymore. As children of God, we have become new creatures in Christ Jesus and we have been given His Spirit. Now, we can be pleasing to God, and can put to death the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit of God. Romans 8v5-8 (NIV) says “Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.” The Bible goes on to say “You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.” (Romans 8v9, NIV). Is your mind being governed by the flesh or by the Spirit of Christ? Are you truly His? Are you pleasing God?

Supplementary Text
“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].” Romans 12v2 (AMP)

Father, I thank You for being my God, and I commit myself to You saying, have Your way in me in Jesus name, amen.
