Obedience to God (3)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“[Live] as children of obedience [to God]; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires [that governed you] in your former ignorance [when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel].” 1 Peter 1v14 (AMP)

Before we came to know God, and accept Him as our Lord and Saviour, we walked like the children of disobedience did, following the ways of this world. Ephesians 2v2-3 (AMP) says “In which at one time you walked [habitually]. You were following the course and fashion of this world [were under the sway of the tendency of this present age], following the prince of the power of the air. [You were obedient to and under the control of] the [demon] spirit that still constantly works in the sons of disobedience [the careless, the rebellious, and the unbelieving, who go against the purposes of God]. Among these we as well as you once conducted ourselves in the passions of our flesh [our behavior governed by our corrupt and sensual nature], obeying the impulses of the flesh and the thoughts of the mind [our cravings dictated by our senses and our dark imaginings]. We were then by nature children of [God’s] wrath and heirs of [His] indignation, like the rest of mankind.” But by God’s grace and mercy, we have been saved, and been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. We are no longer in ignorance, but can now be obedient to God. We cannot continue in sin that grace may abound (Romans 6v1). Galatians 5v25 (NIV) says “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” Amen.

Supplementary Text
“When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” Galatians 5v19-23 (NLT)

Father, I thank You for being my God, and I commit myself to You saying, have Your way in me in Jesus name, amen.
