Distracting Cares
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. There are
different cares that we might have – about living, relationships, necessities,
work, ambition e.t.c. There are also the distractions and pleasures of this
world.
Primary Text
“And
the ones sown among the thorns are others who hear the Word; Then the cares and
anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and
delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and
passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word,
and it becomes fruitless.” Mark 4v18-19 (AMP)
Here
Jesus explains the parable of the sower who went out sowing seed, some of which
fell among thorns. Are the cares of this world choking out the Word from your
life? Are they moving your focus from Jesus? Do you find yourself having less time
for God? In Luke 21, Jesus was telling His disciples some of the things that
would come to pass before His return. He said at that time “People will be
terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens
will be shaken” (Luke 21v26). But He tells His disciples certain things saying
“But take heed to yourselves and be on your guard, lest your hearts be
overburdened and depressed (weighed down) with the giddiness and headache and
nausea of self-indulgence, drunkenness, and worldly worries and cares
pertaining to [the business of] this life, and [lest] that day come upon you
suddenly like a trap or a noose; For it will come upon all who live upon the
face of the entire earth. Keep awake then and watch at all times [be discreet,
attentive, and ready], praying that you may have the full strength and ability
and be accounted worthy to escape all these things [taken together] that will
take place, and to stand in the presence of the Son of Man.” The problem with
cares and overindulgence in the things of the world is that they can distract
you from your focus in Christ. But know:
Supplementary Text
“You
also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour and a moment when
you do not anticipate it.” Luke 12v40 (AMP)
Prayer
Beloved,
please search your heart and see if you have been distracted from the Lord.
Repent and turn back to Him today.
