The Spirit’s Confirmation
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“The
Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us]
that we are children of God.” Romans 8v16 (AMP)
The
Holy Spirit is also called the Third Person of the Trinity, and plays an active
role in the life of the believer. The Holy Spirit is the One who confirms that
we are children of God and belong to Christ. Ephesians 1v13-14 (TLB) gives us
this assurance: “And because of what Christ did, all you others too, who heard
the Good News about how to be saved, and trusted Christ, were marked as
belonging to Christ by the Holy Spirit, who long ago had been promised to all
of us Christians. His presence within us is God’s guarantee that He really will
give us all that He promised; and the Spirit’s seal upon us means that God has
already purchased us and that He guarantees to bring us to Himself. This is
just one more reason for us to praise our glorious God.” Beloved, we have no
need to be afraid, we have peace with God once we have believed in Jesus and
accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour. Romans 8v15 (AMP) re-iterates this saying
“For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to
put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of
adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba
(Father)! Father!” But even before we become born again, the Holy Spirit helps
to convict sinners.
Supplementary Text
“And
when He comes, He will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s
righteousness, and of the coming judgment. The world’s sin is that it refuses
to believe in Me. Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and
you will see Me no more. Judgment will come because the ruler of this world has
already been judged.” John 16v8-11 (NLT)
Prayer
Father,
I thank You for drawing me to Yourself, for no one can come to You unless You
draw them. I thank You for confirming me as Yours by sealing me with Your
Spirit. I pray for those who do not know You, that Spirit of God You will
convict them of its sin, God’s righteousness and coming judgment in Jesus name
I pray, amen.
