Watch and Pray
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Watch
ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the
flesh is weak.” Mark 14v38 (KJV)
“Keep
awake and watch and pray [constantly], that you may not enter into temptation;
the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Mark 14v38 (AMP)
“Watch
with Me and pray lest the Tempter overpower you. For though the spirit is
willing enough, the body is weak.” Mark 14v38 (TLB)
One
reason why we need to be watchful and prayerful is so that we do not fall into
temptation. As seen in the verses above, this was the Lord Jesus telling Peter,
James, and John who were with Him at the garden of Gethsemane. Beloved, be on
guard. Whether we like it or not, we do have an adversary who is the devil; 1
Peter 5v8-9 (AMP) telling us that “Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind),
be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil,
roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize
upon and devour. Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset – rooted,
established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same
(identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of
Christians) throughout the world.”
Supplementary Text
“Happy
is the man who doesn’t give in and do wrong when he is tempted, for afterwards
he will get as his reward the crown of life that God has promised those who
love Him. And remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is
tempting him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to
do it. Temptation is the pull of man’s own evil thoughts and wishes. These evil
thoughts lead to evil actions and afterwards to the death penalty form God. So
don’t be misled, dear brothers.” James 1v12-16 (TLB)
Prayer
Father,
