Praying for the nations

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“Never stop praying.” 1 Thessalonians 5v17 (NLT)

God will have us pray. Even though we know that He knows what we have need of even before we ask, He still asks us to “pray without ceasing”. The Bible shows us different things we can pray for – one of which is for countries. Jeremiah 29v7 (AMP) says “And seek (inquire for, require, and request) the peace and welfare of the city to which I have caused you to be carried away captive; and pray to the Lord for it, for in the welfare of [the city in which you live] you will have welfare.” This verse of scripture shows us that God will have us pray for the places we find ourselves. In this case, for the Israelites, it was even a land of captivity, but the Lord said, pray for them – if all is well with them, all will be well with you. Many of us know and have come to realize that the leadership of a place determines to a large extent the state of conditions of that place. 1 Timothy 2v1-6 (TLB) says “Here are my directions: Pray much for others; plead for God’s mercy upon them; give thanks for all He is going to do for them. Pray in this way for kings and all others who are in authority over us, or are in places of high responsibility, so that we can live in peace and quietness, spending our time in godly living and thinking much about the Lord. This is good and pleases God our Savior, for He longs for all to be saved and to understand this truth: That God is on one side and all the people on the other side, and Christ Jesus, Himself man, is between them to bring them together, by giving His life for all mankind. This is the message that at the proper time God gave to the world.” Beloved, it doesn’t matter how “discouraging” the situation of your land may look, if God has said we can pray about it, let’s do that.

Supplementary Text
“And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Mark 10v27 (KJV)

Prayer

Father, we thank You so much for our nations, and for those in authority. We thank You for the good that is in the land and for all people. We pray for Your mercy upon them and what You are going to do in them. We pray for those in authority, that You will give them wisdom and surround them with godly counsel, in Jesus name, amen.
