A labour of love
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“Remembering
without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, …” 1 Thessalonians 1v3
(KJV)
We
thank God for the opportunity and the priviledge to serve one another in love.
Here Paul mentions the labour of love that the church in Thessalonica have. 2
Thessalonians 1v3 (NIV) says “We ought always to thank God for you, brothers
and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and
the love all of you have for one another is increasing.” Indeed we are told
that one of the marks of a Christian is love. It is hard to find someone who
would go out of his way to do things for another person who is not a relative
or a friend. But in Christ we become members of the same body, and brothers and
sisters. John 13v35 (AMP) says “By this shall all [men] know that you are My
disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among
yourselves].” The Bible lets us know that those who love are those who know
God. God is love, and through scripture, we are encouraged to love one another.
Supplementary Text
“Beloved,
let us love one another, for love is (springs) from God; and he who loves [his
fellowmen] is begotten (born) of God and is coming [progressively] to know and
understand God [to perceive and recognize and get a better and clearer
knowledge of Him]. He who does not love has not become acquainted with God
[does not and never did know Him], for God is love.” 1 John 4v7-8 (AMP)
Prayer
Father
we thank You for the love of God that has been shed abroad in our hearts by the
Holy Spirit. We thank You because we can therefore walk in love. From
Colossians 3, we put off anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, and filthy
communication out of our mouths. We thank You for the new life that we have in
Christ, and thank You for and receive the grace to practice tenderhearted mercy
and kindness, to be gentle and ready to forgive, to never hold grudges, but to
forgive as Christ forgave us. We pray that love will guide our lives and that
the peace of heart that comes from Christ will always be present in our hearts
and lives in Jesus name, amen.
