Out of sin’s dominion
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“For
sin shall not [any longer] exert dominion over you, since now you are not under
Law [as slaves], but under grace [as subjects of God’s favor and mercy].” Romans
6v14 (AMP)
The
Dakes Concordance comments on this verse saying “God delivers from sin at the
new birth (2 Cor 5v17-18; 1 Jn. 3:9; 5:1-4, 18), so if you become subject to it
again, it is because of your choice (v13) …. You are not under the law that
demands obedience, without giving power to obey. You are under grace that
demands the same strict obedience to God, but gives free pardon for sin and
power to obey.” Looking at the referenced scriptures, we find that 2
Corinthians 5v17-18 (AMP) says “Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in
Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old
[previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and
new has come! But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled
us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and
gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to
bring others into harmony with Him].” Basically, when we give our lives to
Christ, we become new beings, our spirit man is reborn, allowing us to be a new
person. 1 John 3v9 (TLB) goes on to say that “The person who has been born into
God’s family does not make a practice of sinning because now God’s life is in
him; so he can’t keep on sinning, for this new life has been born into him and
controls him – he has been born again.” The Amplified version puts it this way
“No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly, and habitually]
practices sin, for God’s nature abides in Him [His principle of life, the
divine sperm, remains permanently within him]; and he cannot practice sinning
because he is born (begotten) of God.” Beloved, as a child of God, His seed is
on the inside of you, and you become born of God, and God does not sin.
Supplementary Text
“No
one who has become part of God’s family makes a practice of sinning, for
Christ, God’s Son, holds him securely, and the devil cannot get his hands on
him.” 1 John 5v18 (TLB)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for the salvation of our souls; that we are born of God, we thank
You. Thank You because we are kept by Jesus, and by the power of God and the
wicked one cannot touch us. Hallelujah. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
