Out of sin’s dominion (2)

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.

Primary Text
“For sin shall not [any longer] exert dominion over you, since now you are not under Law [as slaves], but under grace [as subjects of God’s favor and mercy].” Romans 6v14 (AMP)

Continuing from yesterday’s exhortation, we note again that the Dakes Concordance comments on the above verse saying “God delivers from sin at the new birth (2 Cor 5v17-18; 1 Jn. 3:9; 5:1-4, 18), so if you become subject to it again, it is because of your choice (v13 – “Do not let any part of your bodies become tools of wickedness, to be used for sinning; but give yourselves completely to God – every part of you – for you are back from death and you want to be tools in the hands of God, to be used for His good purposes” (TLB)) ….  We find that those who are born of God do not make a practice of sinning because the seed of God remains on the inside of them. Indeed, they are kept by Christ’s divine presence within them, which preserves them from evil and does not allow the wicked one to touch them (1 John 5v18, AMP). 1 John 5v1-4 (AMP) says “Everyone who believes (adheres to, trusts, and relies on the fact) that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah) is a born-again child of God; and everyone who loves the Father also loves the one born of Him (His offspring). By this we come to know (recognize and understand) that we love the children of God: when we love God and obey His commands (orders, charges) – [when we keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and His teaching]. For the [true] love of God is this: that we do His commands [keep His ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and His teaching]. And these orders of His are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or grievous). For whatsoever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.”

Supplementary Text
“for every child of God can obey Him, defeating sin and evil pleasure and by trusting Christ to help him.” 1 John 5v4 (TLB)

Prayer

Indeed O Lord we put our faith in You and trust in You to help us be victorious over the world, sin and evil in Jesus name, amen.
