I pray for you
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“We
give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;” 1
Thessalonians 1v2 (KJV)
There
is power in prayer; and beyond praying for ourselves, we can pray for others too.
It is a good feeling to know that someone is praying for you. We see through
scripture examples of prayers for others: Jesus for His disciples and those who
would come to know them and writers of the epistles to those who were the
recipients of them. Moreover, we see where Paul for example asks for prayers
for himself (Ephesians 6v19). It does not have to be an overly long prayer –
indeed it can be a mention of thanksgiving for another person. However, as you
begin to be aware of the needs of other individuals, friends, relatives, loved
ones, the church and even nations, you can pray for these needs, or even for
things that would strengthen their faith. This is pleasing to God as we see in 1
Timothy 2v1-4 (AMP) which says “First of all, then, I admonish and urge that
petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of
all men, For kings and all who are in positions of authority or high
responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and
inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in
every way. For such [praying] is good and right, and [it is] pleasing and
acceptable to God our Savior, Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly]
to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the
[divine] Truth.” Indeed we are in a privileged position to pray for those who
do not know God, for God would have them to be saved. So, if you are praying
for someone who does not know the Lord, please do not relent or be discouraged.
Furthermore, through prayer, we can support and encourage fellow believers.
Supplementary Text
“And
pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s
people.” Ephesians 6v18 (NIV)
