The Spirit’s Conviction

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for the preaching of the gospel. Paul in writing to the Thessalonians said:

Primary Text
“For our [preaching of the] glad tidings (the Gospel) came to you not only in word, but also in [its own inherent] power and in the Holy Spirit and with great conviction and absolute certainty [on our part]…” 1 Thessalonians 1v5 (AMP)

“For when we brought you the Good News, it was not just meaningless chatter to you; no, you listened with great interest. What we told you produced a powerful effect upon you, for the Holy Spirit gave you great and full assurance that what we said was true…” 1 Thessalonians 1v5 (TLB)

There is a convicting work that the Holy Spirit does in the life of those who do not yet know the Lord. He helps them to know that the Gospel is truth, and also convicts them of sin, righteousness and judgment. John 16v7-11 (AMP) says “However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedience, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. And when He comes, He will convict and convince the world and bring demonstration to it about sin and about righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God) and about judgment: About sin, because they do not believe in Me [trust in, rely on, and adhere to Me]; About righteousness (uprightness of heart and right standing with God), because I go to My Father, and you will see Me no longer; About judgment, because the ruler (evil genius, prince) of this world [Satan] is judged and condemned and sentence is already passed upon him.”

Supplementary Text
“”And when you are brought to trial before these Jewish rulers and authorities in the synagogues, don’t be concerned about what to say in your defense, for the Holy Spirit will give you the right words even as you are standing there.”” Luke 12v11-12 (TLB)

Prayer

Father, we thank You for Your Holy Spirit. We thank You because He is here to bring conviction to the world. We pray that each time we need to witness of Your goodness and share the gospel that He will give us the right words to say and stir the hearts of the listeners in Jesus name, amen.
