Holiness

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. In Deuteronomy 7, the Lord was telling the children of Israel that when He brought them to the land they were to possess, they were to utterly destroy the people there. They were not to make covenants with them, or show them mercy, neither were they to marry among them. You might wonder, why such a seemingly harsh treatment. God says:

Primary Text: Deuteronomy 7v4-6
“For they will turn away your sons from following Me, that they may serve other gods; so will the anger of the Lord be kindled against you and He will destroy you quickly. But thus shall you deal with them: you shall break down their altars and dash in pieces their pillars and hew down there Asherim [symbols of the goddess Asherah] and burn their graven images with fire. For you are a holy and set-apart people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a special people to Himself out of all the peoples on the face of the earth.” Deuteronomy 7v4-6 (AMP)

As believers, we are special to God, we are also set-apart and holy unto the Lord. We are not like other people. The Spirit of the Lord is on the inside of us, and we are the temple of the Lord (1 Corinthians 6v19). We are the Lord’s, and He expects us to be holy. The Lord Jesus has made us kings and priests unto our God (Revelations 5v10). “And you are living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple. What’s more, you are His holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.” 1 Peter 2v5 (NLT). Now you may not be feeling like that holy priest, but that is what you are. Remember that, and continue walking in the knowledge of that truth.

Supplementary Text:
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you our of darkness into His marvelous light. Which in time past were not a people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2v9&10 (KJV)

Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word. Thank You for calling me to be Yours in Jesus name, amen.
