A Spiritual walk
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“However,
brethren, I could not talk to you as to spiritual [men], but as to nonspiritual
[men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates], as to mere infants
[in the new life] in Christ [unable to talk yet!] I fed you with milk, not
solid food, for you were not yet strong enough [to be ready for it]; but even
yet you are not strong enough [to be ready for it], For you are still
[unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary
impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and
factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving
yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?” 1 Corinthians
3v1-3 (AMP)
Walking
in the Spirit is when you allow yourself to be guided, led and controlled by
the Spirit of God. This is in opposition to allowing the carnal mind to
dominate. As believers, we have the Spirit of Christ in us, and through His
power, we can put to death the deeds of the flesh. Romans 8v3-4 (NLT) says “The
law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful
nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent His own Son in a body
like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s
control over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so
that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no
longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.” As we see in
Galatians 5v19-24 below, the work of the flesh and the fruit of the abiding
presence of the Spirit in us is so clear. So what do we do? Romans 8v12-14
(AMP) says “So then, brethren, we are debtors, but not to the flesh [we are not
obligated to our carnal nature], to live [a life ruled by the standards set up
by the dictates] of the flesh. For if you live according to [the dictates of]
the flesh, you will surely die. But if through the power of the [Holy] Spirit
you are [habitually] putting to death (making extinct, deadening) the [evil]
deeds prompted by the body, you shall [really and genuinely] live forever. For
all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
Supplementary Text
“Now
the doings (practices) of the flesh are clear (obvious): they are immorality,
impurity, indecency, Idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger (ill
temper), selfishness, divisions (dissensions), party spirit (factions, sects
with peculiar opinions, heresies), Envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like.
I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who do such things
shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the
work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace,
patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence),
faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint,
continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge]. And
those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the
godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires.” Galatians
5v19-24 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for Your Word and Your Spirit. We pray that You will fill us
afresh with Your Spirit and let there be growing evidence of His presence in us
in Jesus name, amen.
