Milk or Solids?
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord.
Primary Text
“However,
brethren, I could not talk to you as to spiritual [men], but as to nonspiritual
[men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates], as to mere infants
[in the new life] in Christ [unable to talk yet!] I fed you with milk, not
solid food, for you were not yet strong enough [to be ready for it]; but even
yet you are not strong enough [to be ready for it], For you are still
[unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary
impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and
factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves
after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?” 1 Corinthians 3v1-3
(AMP)
Child
of God, are you still an infant in the Lord? Are you still feeding on milk and
not solid food? Are you still living under the control of the flesh instead of
being led by the Spirit of God? Romans 8v6 (AMP) reminds us that “Now the mind
of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death
[death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and
hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both
now and forever].” Beloved, when we give our life to Christ, we become new
creatures, remembering we are made of spirit, soul and body. Our spirit
changes, but we still need to do something about our soul (mind, emotion,
will). That’s why we are told in Romans 12v1-2 (NIV) “Therefore, I urge you,
brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living
sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. Do
not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His
good, pleasing and perfect will.” Beloved, through the help of the Spirit we
can put to death the deeds of the flesh and live, but if you continue to live
according to the dictates of your sinful nature, it will lead to death (Romans
8v12).
Supplementary Text
“But
if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t
cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are
not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.
For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find
disorder and evil of every kind. But the wisdom from above is first of all
pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to
others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is
always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and
reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 1v14-18 (NLT)
