Who is …
Hello
everyone,
How
are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God
for His goodness, His faithfulness, His lovingkindness and His tendermercies.
Primary Text
“Who
do you think Paul is, anyway? Or Apollos, for that matter? Servants, both of us
– servants who waited on you as you gradually learned to entrust your lives to
our mutual Master. We each carried out our servant assignment.” 1 Corinthians
13v5 (MSG)
“After
all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you
believed us Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.” 1 Corinthians
13v2 (NLT)
In
this verse, Paul puts things in proper perspective to those who were saying
there were followers of Paul, versus followers of Apollos. He asks, who is
Paul, and who is Apollos? We are mere servants through whom you have come to
believe in the Lord. Whether we ourselves are ministers of the Word or we
congregate under a pastor, preacher, evangelist, prophet, apostle, we need to
keep things in proper perspective that is we in and of ourselves are nothing.
We are all answerable to God. He is our Master, and without Him we can do
nothing (John 15v5).
Supplementary Text
“Now
I have applied all this [about parties and factions] to myself and Apollos for
your sakes, brethren, so that from what I have said of us [as illustrations],
you may learn [to think of men in accordance with Scripture and] not to go
beyond that which is written, that none of you may be puffed up and inflated
with pride and boast in favor of one [minister and teacher] against another.
For who separates you from the others [as a faction leader]? [Who makes you
superior and sets you apart from another, giving you the preeminence?] What
have you that was not given to you? If then you received it [from someone], why
do you boast as if you had not received [but had gained it by your own
efforts]?” 1 Corinthians 4v6-7 (AMP)
Prayer
Father,
we thank You for all that You have given us. Help us to remember always that
You have made us all who You want us to be. May we not bring division to the
body of Christ in Jesus name, amen.
