Building Materials

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord J

Primary Text
“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is [already] laid, which is Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). But if anyone build upon the Foundation whether it be with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, The work of each [one] will become [plainly, openly] known (shown for what it is); for the day [of Christ] will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done.” 1 Corinthians 3v11-13 (AMP)

Beloved, what material are you using in building the house of God? What material are you using to do the work of the Lord? Is it gold or silver, precious stones, or wood, hay or straw? While it is acknowledged that different materials are needed to do different things, the question remains, are you using what is not to be used for something for that thing? Are you using the proper material for the right work? What is your attitude towards the work or your motives behind doing it? The Bible here tells us that a day will come when the character, the worth, the value of each person’s work will be tested and critically appraised. The Message translation puts it this way “Take particular care in picking out your building materials. Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you’ll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous.” (1 Corinthians 3v11-12, MSG). I think it is good to involve the Lord in every work that we do – asking Him for the work He wants us to do before embarking on it, working through His grace and His Spirit, and abiding in Christ for ever that we may bring forth fruit. (John 15v4-5).

Supplementary Text
“Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.” Psalm 127v1 (NLT)

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You so much for Your Word. I thank You for every work of my hand which will be tested. Father I commit every work I do into Your hands, be the head over it Father, for except You build, I labour in vain. I love You and appreciate You. Be forever glorified in my life in Jesus name I pray, amen.
