Abstain (2)!!!

Hello everyone-- How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We bless God for this new month of May and seeing us through to it. May this month be indeed a joyful and fulfilling one for you in Jesus name, amen. Primary Text “Beloved, I implore you as aliens and strangers and exiles [in this world] to abstain from the sensual urges (the evil desires, the passions of the flesh, your lower nature) that wage war against the soul.” 1 Peter 2v11 (AMP) Indeed in the past, our nature was such that we fulfilled these desires, as Ephesians 2v1-3 (KJV) tells us “And you hath He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.” How then can we overcome these sensual urges. One way is by walking in the Spirit. Galatians 5v16 (KJV) says “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” The Holy Spirit is our Helper. Through His help, we can overcome the lusts of the flesh. Romans 8v13 (KJV) says “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” Also, we can put on Christ, and also monitor our thought processes. Romans 13v14 (AMP) says “But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and make no provision for [indulging] the flesh [put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature] to [gratify its] desires (lusts).” Philippians 4v8-9 (KJV) says “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be nay praise, think on these things.” Let's not make provision for the flesh any longer. Be careful what you think about. Be yielded to the Spirit. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ! Supplementary Text “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2 Timothy 2v22 (KJV) Father we thank You for Your Word this day. We put on Christ and yield to the Holy Spirit this day that we may not fulfill sinful desires, in Jesus name, amen.
