Shepherd and Bishop of our Souls
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in
the Lord. One song I like goes: Shepherd of my soul, I give You full control,
wherever You may lead I will follow. I have made a choice to listen for Your
voice, wherever You may lead, I will go. Be it in a quiet pasture or by a
gentle stream, the Shepherd of my soul is by my side, should I face a mighty
mountain, or a valley dark and deep, the Shepherd of my soul will be my guide.

Primary Text
“For ye were as sheep going astray; but are not returned
unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.” 1 Peter 2v25 (KJV)
“You were like sheep that wandered away, but now you have
come back to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” 1 Peter 2v25 (NCV)
Thank God for Jesus who is our Shepherd. I don’t know about
you, but I am so glad I have a Shepherd, and that Jesus is the Shepherd of my
soul. He can be trusted. We can depend on Him. He laid His life down for us. He
is not the sort of shepherd that we will be wary or suspicious or cautious with
that perhaps He would lead us to be slaughtered. No, He laid down His life for
us.
John 10v11 (NIV) says “I am the good shepherd. The good
shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” And He did. On the other hand, if
you have the evil one for your guide, be very afraid! John 10v10 (NIV) tells us
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may
have life, and have it to the full.”
Supplementary
Text
“The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I
shall not lack. He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He
leads me beside the still and restful
waters. He refreshes and restores my
life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and
right standing with Him – not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake. Yes,
though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear or dread no evil, for You are
with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me. You
prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head
with oil; my [brimming] cup runs over. Surely or only goodness, mercy, and
unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length
of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling
place.” Psalm 23v1-6 (AMP)
Father, I thank You for Your Word this day. Thank You Jesus
for being my Shepherd and Overseer, Guide and Bishop. Lord in any way I have
moved away from Your comfort, guidance and care, I am sorry. I come back to You
today in Jesus name, amen. Be my Shepherd and guide forever. Spirit of the
Living God, I yield to You today in Jesus name, amen.
