Don’t Eavesdrop!

2 June 2010 – Don’t Eavesdrop!

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for seeing us through the first 5 months of the year 2010. Indeed, God has been faithful! Now, the Bible gives us a word of advice in Ecclesiastes 7v21-22, saying:

“Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:
For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.” Ecclesiastes 7v21-22 (King James Version)

“Don’t eavesdrop on others – you may hear your servant curse you.
For you know how often you yourself have cursed others.” Ecclesiastes 7v21-22 (New Living Translation)

“Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you –
for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others.” Ecclesiastes 7v21-22 (New International Version)

Whether you call it being smart or gathering information, the Bible is here telling us not to eavesdrop or pay attention to every word that is spoken. Sometimes you might even hear the wrong thing and work yourself up. Now, if you do pay attention to every word that is spoken, you might hear your servant cursing you…. But it’s almost as if the Bible is saying here that, calm down, you yourself you know in your heart that you have cursed or insulted others, so take it easy. Real words of wisdom ☺

Have a very blessed day.

Heavenly Father,
We thank You so much for this day which You have made. We thank You for all that You have done for us. We thank You for being our God and calling us Your children. We thank You for giving Jesus to die on the cross for us. Thank You Jesus for dying on the cross of Calvary for us. We give You all the glory in Jesus name, amen. Father we pray this day for as many of us that might have heard one thing or the other that have caused us grief, or hurt us, that You will heal us and restore our souls. Help us to become insensitive to curses and insults, for we know that Your Word says that a curse causeless shall not come. Help us to bless and not curse, and not to be overcome by evil but to overcome evil with good in all of our endeavors, that Your name might be glorified. Thank You Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in Jesus mighty name we pray with thanksgiving, amen.
