The Fellowship of His Sufferings…

Hello everybody,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His great grace over us. One of the things that Paul wrote that he wanted to do, was to suffer with Christ, to know the fellowship of His sufferings, and we can say that He did get to do that.

Primary Text: Philippians 3v10
“That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings…;” Philippians 3v10 (KJV)

“…, and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]” Philippians 3v10 (AMP)

Now you might ask that is there any benefits to suffering? Why do believers have to suffer for Christ? In what way do these sufferings come along? David said “My suffering was good for me, for it taught me to pay attention to your decrees.” (Psalm 119v71, NLT). In a sense, we see how in a marriage, the couple are to stay in it for better or worse, through the good times and through the bad. As believers, we are in a relationship with God, and we stay in it through the good and bad, through the sufferings and the glory…

Supplementary Verses
“And since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share His glory, we must also share His suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later.” Romans 8v17&18 (NLT)

“For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for Him. We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it.” Philippians 1v29&30 (NLT)

“Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset – rooted, established, strong, immoveable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.” 1 Peter 5v8-10 (AMP)

Prayer
Father, I thank You so much for making me Your heir. I thank You so much for the privilege of sharing in the sufferings of Christ, in Jesus name, amen.
