Knowing Him
Hello everybody,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling on this day. Happy happy Sunday.
Primary Text: Philippians 3v10
“That I may know Him, …” Philippians 3v10 (KJV)
One of the prayers that we see Paul praying in his letter, both to the Ephesians and to the Colossians, is that God would give them the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and that they may increase in the knowledge of God, respectively. He himself expressed that he counted everything but loss for the excellency of knowing God (Philippians 3v8); Moses, also asked God to show Him His way, that He may know Him. The Lord Himself said that let Him that glorieth, glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me. If people who went before us, and God Himself speaks of knowing Him, then it is important that we get to know God.
Supplementary Verses
“Now therefore, I pray Thee, if I have found grace in Thy sight, show me now Thy way, that I may know Thee, that I may find grace in Thy sight: and consider that this nation is Thy people.” Exodus 33v13
“… making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:” Ephesians 1v16-17
“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;” Colossians 1v10
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Proverbs 9v10
“But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.” Jeremiah 9v24
When you know someone, it is easier to please the person. We get to know people by spending time with them, by listening to them speak, sometimes by hearing what others who know them say about them, by observing their ways of doing things. God says, draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to Him (James 4v8). Won’t you get to know God more?
Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus, I pray that You will give unto us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of You, the eyes of our understanding being enlightened, that we may know what is the hope of Your calling, and what is the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of Your power to us-ward who believe.
