Doers...

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. We thank God for His amazing love for us J He indeed is a wonder working God.

Primary Verse: Philippians 3v16

“Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.” Philippians 3v16 (KJV)

“But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.” Philippians 3v16 (NLT)

“Only let us hold true to what we have already attained and walk and order our lives by that.” Philippians 3v16 (AMP)

The Life Application Study Bible writes a commentary on Philippians 3v16 saying “Christian maturity involves acting on the guidance that you have already received. We can always make excuses that we still have so much to learn. The instruction for us is to live up to what we already know and live out what we have already learned. We do not have to be sidetracked by an unending search for truth.”

On the one hand, you can look at the Bible and think, there is so much I do not know, there is so much that still needs to be known e.t.c. But there are things which we already do know, and can be doers of, instead of being just hearers, deceiving ourselves (James 1v22). For instance, you might be familiar with the verse which says “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5v7, NLT), so cast all your cares to Him. You may be familiar with that which says “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name (Psalm 100v4), so we should do that. You may have heard that “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.” (Psalm 37v4-5, AMP), so do these things. You may have heard that “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry.” (Psalm 34v15), so walk with that assurance. 1 Thessalonians 5v16-22 offer a few more things we as Christians can do.

Supplementary Verses

“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5v16-22

Have a very blessed day.

Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for Your Word and all that we already know and have learnt. May we indeed we indeed hold true to what we have already attained and walk and order our lives by that in Jesus name, amen.
