Depart Evil!

Hello everyone,

How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. Our God is great and greatly to be praised. He is truly a God of wonders, and One who cares for us.

Primary Text:
“What man is he who desires life and longs for many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil …” Psalm 34v12-14 (AMP)

Do you want to enjoy life, and see many good/happy days? The Bible says, keep your tongue from evil… Basically do not say evil things… Depart from evil. Psalm 1v1-2, tells us of the man who is blessed, happy, to be envied, who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly, or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of the scornful, but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law He meditates day and night. The Bible even tells us to abstain from all appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians). If it looks like evil, keep away from it. We are told of “righteous Lot” “who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day” (2 Peter 2v7). Child of God, if it looks like evil, smells like evil, feels like evil, abstain from it. Don’t sit there, walk there, heed to it, speak it – move away.

Supplementary Text:
“I wrote you in my [previous] letter not to associate [closely and habitually] with unchaste (impure) people – Not [meaning of course that you must] altogether shun the immoral people of this world, or the greedy graspers and cheats and thieves or idolaters, since otherwise you would need to get out of the world and human society altogether! But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [Christian] brother if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or an idolater [whose soul is devoted to any object that usurps the place of God], or is a person with a foul tongue [railing, abusing, reviling, slandering], or is a drunkard or a swindler or a robber. [No] you must not so much as eat with such a person. What [business] of mine is it and what right have I to judge outsiders? Is it not those inside [the church] upon whom you are to pass disciplinary judgment [passing censuring sentence on them as the facts require]? God alone sits in judgment on those who are outside. Drive out that wicked one from among you [expel him from your church].” 1 Corinthians 5v9-13 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word and I pray for the grace to shun every kind of evil in Jesus name, amen. If I have dabbled in sin, or spoken evil, or done evil in Your sight, I repent of it today, and I ask that You forgive me in Jesus name, amen.
