Our Fight
Hello everyone,
How are you doing on this day? I hope well and bubbling in the Lord. The Bible tells us that we should “Put on the full armor of God so that you can fight against the devil’s evil tricks” (Ephesians 6v11, NCV). It then goes on to tell us the sort of opponents that we have in this battle.
Primary Text:
“For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6v12 (NLT)
The first thing we must realize is that our fight is not against flesh and blood. So it’s not about the person next to you or not, but about what is going on in the unseen world. What are some of the implications of this? Firstly, it cannot be fought with physical weapons (see 2 Corinthians 10v3-6 below). Secondly, we need to be acquainted with and train in the usage of our weapons. For instance, one weapon we have is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. We need to know the Word, and use the Word of God. This Word is quick and powerful and shaper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4v12). You can also use prophecies to wage war (1 Timothy 1v18). Thirdly, be conscious of the battle that is going on. Not in a way as to cause fear, as we do have victory in Christ, but to know that we have been called to fight a good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6v12), and that the devil presents himself in many different ways. Samson for instance relaxed with Delilah, told her his secrets, and in that way lost (at that time) the power that was his (Judges 16v4-20). Esau sold his birth right for some pottage (Genesis 25v34). Don’t be caught unawares, and unprepared!
Supplementary Text:
“For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your submission and obedience [as a church] are fully secured and complete.” 2 Corinthians 10v3-6 (AMP)
Prayer
Father, I thank You so much for Your Word this day. Help me to fight the good fight of faith in Jesus name, amen.
